The north norfolk coast. A breath of fresh air, literally and figuratively. This is why I love it so much.
Huge, nearly empty beaches stretching away to even more expansive skies.
Dunes and tide lines in the sand
Sunlight catching the ripples of tidal pools and creeks,
and endless unspoilt, ancient villages built almost entirely of flint and boasting village churches the size of small cathedrals, many right by the sea.
The wild north sea was pounding the pebble beach further along the coast at Salthouse.
I wish I had had more than my iphone camera to do justice to these views, but I feel I have had a whole long weekend of oxygen therapy! These wide open spaces and amazing light - they are so replenishing somehow, they give space physically, but also mentally to ponder and think and see things more in perspective...
and there is nothing like seeing my nine year old race along the beach with his hound and his dad!
yep,
Happy days! x
Just beautiful!!
ReplyDeleteLooks like it was a lovely day. Thanks for sharing.

What a lovely post.x
ReplyDeleteBig skies. I live somewhere landlocked and pretty flat. The sky just isn't big here and sometimes I miss it.
ReplyDeleteSo pretty :) I think we're long overdue a camping trip to North Norfolk.
ReplyDeleteJust as I remember it, Norfolk is so diverse as you say and the health benefits of visiting places like it are enormous, "Blue Sky Thinking"
ReplyDeleteis just as you describe, total relaxation and space to think, slow time.
Sooo pleased you enjoyed this time with your family.

You took all those photos with your IPhone? Amazing and so beautiful there.
ReplyDeleteAmazing. I would love to visit there.
ReplyDeleteHello Belinda, How beautiful, I can smell the sunshine and the sea- breezes! I'm glad you had such a wonderful weekend. Jane xx
ReplyDeleteWho needs a camera when you do so well with your IPhone. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWonderful pics, brings back many memories as I was brought up on that coast. I still have a deep love for space and huge skies!
ReplyDeleteLovely. It is sooo lovely there. My friends have a cottage in Wells so have been a few times. Happy memories with lots of kids, bright blue skies and long cycle rides. Glad you are feeling refreshed x
ReplyDeleteWe just had our oxygen fix up in Scotland and I agree, there is something about the sea and the sky that really replenishes something in you. Particularly if the sun is shining too. Happy days indeed, Ax
ReplyDeleteThis is how uneducated some (well, me) Americans are ... I had no idea there were any beaches like that in England. Simply gorgeous and so NOT overbuilt and ticky tacky with vendors like so many eastern beaches are now.
ReplyDeleteWould love to spend a few days there and recharge. Glad you had a good time!
wow those beaches, ours are full of stones and pebbles!!
ReplyDeleteoxygen therapy. ahhhh, just what i need. this beach is my kind of beach. no people! southern california beaches are beautiful but too crowded. i feel better just looking at these images. xo janet

What great pics, not bad at all from an iphone. I have never been over to that side of the country, how mad is that!! It looks gorgeous though, so I think I will have to get my butt sorted and get other there. I love big empty beaches and one of my favorite ones is Saunton Sands in Devon, beautiful.
ReplyDeleteLiving in South Norfolk, obviously I recognise all these places and you have reminded me that I must get up there one weekend soon for some much needed replenishment! Amazing photos ... from a phone?? XCathy
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for all the norfolk coast appreciation! I have to say the iphone camera is amazingly good for a phone! It has been pouring with rain ever since we got back, so we lucked out on the sunshine up there! x
ReplyDeleteInspiring photos Belinda. I love North Norfolk and its huge skies. One of my most favourite places in the UK. You were SO lucky with the weather!
