Brisbane

Not really a post today, just a pause to think about the inhabitants of Brisbane and the devastation they are experiencing in the floods at the moment. Thinking particularly of A-M and her two lovely boys, holed up in a hotel room, wondering what lies ahead. A-M, you are in my thoughts and prayers, stay strong.

Easy for me to say, I know. xxx

    I've just woken up and am waiting for my coffee to drip. My first thoughts were of Brisbane and what was happening. As soon as I am caffeine fortified I'll go check.

    Epic disaster. World gone mad.

    I can only echo your remarks. We have found out that our family are safe but the devastation and loss of lives and property is heartbreaking.

    It's almost more than one can wrap the mind around. So many displaced, so much destruction. It's the sort of thing we think can't happen in "developed" places. It's a tough time.

    It has been awful seeing the pictures on the news, I cannot imagine what it must be like to be in that kind of situation.

    You feel so powerless looking at the footage of these epic acts of nature. Wishing the people involved courage and speedy help. I was so heartened to hear a couple interviewed on R4, they told of a large number of strangers turning up with mops and brooms and doing in a day what would have taken them weeks on their own. Some good news.

    Hi Belinda, thanks so much for commenting over at my place.

    My Dad is just South of Brisbane and so far OK... my Mum is in Devon and had the worst flood over Christmas caused by a burst pipe and is in a hotel as a result, so all in all it has been a very soggy start to 2011!
